Swimming and Water Safety
Great that Hedgehogs got their first taste of 'pool life' this afternoon beneath some glorious sunshine - long may it continue!
Our first session gave us an opportunity to assess the children's confidence and competence in the water ahead of delivering our annual curricular swimming lessons.
What a great day to be 'al fresco' swimming.

As part of Hedgehog's swimming sessions this afternoon, we considered how to signal for help when in difficulty in a body of water and how to preserve energy if we are struggling in water by rehearsing the 'float to live' position.
We then popped in our Duracell batteries (other battery brands are of curse available!) before powering across the pool and along its length as we perfected our front crawl and back stroke leg kick ahead of moving on to practise our trickle breathing - a must if we are to become proficient front crawlers!
So many successes for so many of our children this afternoon - an absolute pleasure to witness their finest Coton courage on display.

To celebrate the end of this year's swim season, Hedgehogs thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity for a fun session. Always great to see how far the children have come with their water confidence and competence.
