History

Intent

At Coton, our intent when teaching history is to stimulate the children's curiosity of the past, in an environment where they feel confident to ask questions, think critically and analyse historical sources to develop their understanding. Through targeted History topics, we aim to develop the children's interest and understanding of important historical figures and significant events that have influenced the wider world, Britain, our local community and our lives today. As children are taught to place events chronologically, they understand the complexity of people's lives and the diversity of societies, while developing their own sense of identity.
