Gymnastics - Bridges
Teaching staff were amazed by the level of excellence on show as the children in Hedgehog Class began their new gymnastics units - bridges. Children explored ways they could use their bodies to create bridges at different levels before working with a partner to perform paired bridge balances. They were challenged to make their balances interesting by introducing more than one level and a variety of body parts.
It was a first as the teaching team ran out of success bibs to distribute! Quite simply blown away by the levels of physical (moving), social (working as a team), cognitive (thinking) and emotional (feeling) successes on display this afternoon. We can't wait to get the apparatus out next week as we look to re-create our bridge balances using apparatus.
Hedgehogs excelled again this week.
Combining PE and grammar, children explored movements around, under, through, on and over both apparatus and their partner's bridge balances. Prepositions and excellent gymnastics were definitely the order of the day.
