Intent

At Coton C of E (VC) Primary School, we aim to provide our children with the keys they need for their handwriting to flourish. It is our intent that all pupils leave our school being able to communicate themselves clearly and confidently in the written form. By ensuring that our children are provided with the strong foundations of handwriting and become autonomous with this, we aim to reduce cognitive load and empower them to focus on the composition of their written work. In January 2026, we began trialling two handwriting schemes: EYFS/KS1 - Little Wandle, KS2 - Letterjoin. These will be reviewed at the end of the Spring term.
