Science Week 2023
We have just completed another busy science week. Activities took place throughout the week within this year's theme 'Under the Surface'. The highlight was a whole school trip to the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton where we saw turtles, sharks, jelly fish, rays and a whole host of other, beautiful sea creatures. We were even allowed to touch star fish and real sharks eggs!
Other activities included pond dipping, and looking at pond creatures under our new wooden microscopes; hearing all about deep sea creatures living in Antarctica; listening to an oceanographer talking about the different ocean layers; underwater fireworks and listening to underwater sound recordings. On the final afternoon (Friday 17th March) the whole school took part in 'The Ocean Layers Challenge' where, working in mixed aged groups, the children had to find an object to sit within each of the five liquid layers in a jar.
Thank you to all the children, staff, parents, volunteers and members of the community of Coton who helped to support us by providing time, expertise or materials including jam jars and frogspawn!
