Small Schools Football Competition Year 5/6

On Tuesday 16th October a team of year 5 and 6 children went to Impington Village College to represent Coton C of E (VC) primary school in the  small schools football competition. The children had high hopes for a fun and exciting competition.
It was a round robin competition which means that all the teams were  divided into two main groups and each team played 5 matches  lasting 9 minutes. Coton drew the first match against Oakington school with Joshua J as goalkeeper doing a fantastic job keeping the goals out. (Oakington went on to win the tournament.) Coton lost 2 matches, drew 2 and won  one match. They tried their best, played as a team and showed good sportsmanship. Well done.
The competition then went onto a knockout round where the final match was played for the final position. Coton went into the 9th/10th play offs and beat the University of Cambridge school 5-0. So they finished their competition with their heads held high.
Player of the match was Joshua James. He did an amazing job as goalie, only letting in one goal. He does not play in a football team outside school- well done!
