Year 3/4 Gymnastics competition on Wednesday 31st January 201
Six nervous but excited children left Coton C of E (VC) primary school on Wednesday 31st January to participate in a gymnastics competition. Lorien, Frankie, William, Leoni, Phoebe and Annie were representing our school. The children had to perform 2 vaults and either a body management routine or a floor routine from memory. All children had been practising at home as well as the Friday gym club.
This is one of the hardest competition because there is a lot of pressure and all children have to perform in front of 3/4 judges as well as the other schools. It was very tense and silent! You need a lot of courage in this challenging situation. Fortunately for us, the children were already experienced in these two attributes as they are part of our school values.
There were 12 teams in total and the competition was fierce.  Coton's team was up first and set the bar high! Then it meant waiting and waiting. Mrs Harvey and I were so proud of them. They did very well and performed their best ever routines and vaults. It was very tense listening for our school's name in the results but we came...5th! An excellent accomplishment for children who have only experienced school curriculum gymnastics before.
Then the individual results were announced and the final award was the Sport Award for self belief and passion and Coton won it !!! The team was very proud and finally they smiled from ear to ear.
Well done team, you were stars and made Mrs Harvey and Mrs Baker very proud.
