Cross Country Event at Wimpole Hall Tuesday 29th November 2016

On a cold frosty morning a team of 24 children set off to Wimpole Hall (a National Trust property) to participate in a cross country event involving over 1, 000 children. The sun shone down and the frost disappeared in time for the running to begin. It was a beautiful setting and a beautiful morning.

There were races for boys and girls in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Coton had teams in Years 4, 5 and 6. All the children had worked hard in their PE curriculum lessons over a number of weeks and some had trained at home in order to get a personal best.

There were over 125 children in each race so competition was fierce. It was a privilege to watch the children as they ran, determined to try to do their best, and finish. All the children that represented Coton showed courage and challenged themselves. Well done!

The Year 5 girls team, Madeline and Olivia Welham, Holly Hain, Ellen Halsall and Manuela Jiggins, did exceptionally well with Madeline coming 1st in the race! As a team they were placed 2nd - congratulations girls!

Coton school cross country team were placed 11th overall. James Wicks won  a ‘Spirit of the Games award’ for determination in finishing his race and Holly Hain won a ‘Spirit of the Games award’ for her self -belief, passion and determination.
