Otter Class - Home Learning
Reading
Reading books will be sent home with your child each week.
We swap books on both Tuesday and Friday. This enables, and provides time, for your child to read each book more than once or have the time to read through a longer text.
Regular reading practice is key in supporting your child in making progress both with their application of phonics, and ability to decode new words, as well as in supporting development of their comprehension skills. We recommend reading in regular short bursts of 10-15 minutes per night.
Please ensure your child has their books in school every day as we read regular during the school day.
We will also check reading records regularly, so please record in them when your child has read at home!
Homework Books
Each week, on a Friday afternoon, your child will be provided with spellings and mathematics homework to complete. Each task will focus on work that your child has already covered within school and will not be completely new to them.
We kindly request that homework books are then handed in by Wednesday of the following week.
