Bird Beak Adaptation Investigation May 2023

This half term, Kestrel Class have been learning how characteristics are passed from parents to their offspring and how variation in offspring can affect their survival with adaptations possibly leading to the evolution of a species. In considering the Theory of Evolution developed by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace we discovered Darwin's finch's and their remarkable diversity in  beak form and function. We carried out an investigation using different tools to model how birds' beaks have adapted to improve their ability to catch and eat food. Here we are using different tools to find out which food is easiest to pick up with each tool!
