Coton School battle freezing conditions in an exciting quicksticks tournament

Coton Primary School entered a South Cambs quicksticks hockey tournament for Years 5 and 6 at Comberton Village College. They came in two teams, the A team and the B team - most of the Coton B team were Year 4, so they were definitely at a disadvantage!

As they fought through the bitter cold, Coton A team won 4 out of 5 games, with the B team winning 1 game out of 5. Despite the B team losing 4 games, they carried on and never gave up and they all defended exceptionally well. The A team’s loss was very close, as Harston and Newton won 3-2. Both Coton teams won the “Spirit of the Games” award for their determination and teamwork. Two of the A team’s players won the shooting competition; they came joint first.

For some of the students, it was their first time representing Coton School: they returned to school feeling very proud, and their teacher and classmates were very impressed!
