December 2015

3rd December 2015
Yesr 5 and 6 Cross Country event at Wimpole Hall.

On 3rd December 2015, a group of year 5 and 6 children went to Wimpole Hall to participate in the Cross Country event for the second year running. Fortunately it was a much milder day this year and the extra layers of clothing were not really needed. There were 4 races: year 6 girls, year 6 boys, year 5 girls and year 5 boys.

Our team members were Catalina Jiggins, Indigo Rowe, Sasha Osborne, Marco Fernandez Tello, Cosmo Gormori Woodcock, Tim Nerukh, Jonah Tomsett, Tomas Stephenson,  Mark Etkind, Antonia Onyeachie, Sophie Oliver, Emily Seale, Anna Cooke, Yann Johnson, Tommy Hale, Lucas Pye and Alexander Lentin.
Thirty schools were represented and over 600 children took part. It was a very busy morning!

For the first time there was to be a 'Spirit of the Games' award given to the school who showed great determination and other values in sport. Our team  showed the school values of  courage and cooperation as well as challenging themselves without forgeting how to care for each other.

The year 6 girls team came 7th, the year 6 boys team came 8th, the year 5 girls team came 14th and the year 5 boys team came 13th. Overall, as a school, with all the points totalled, Coton cross country team came 5th out of 30 schools!! An amazing achievement. Well done team Coton!

Coton school was also chosen to have the 'Spirit of the Games' award which made everyone even prouder. A very successful morning.
